Applications open to serve on the Utah Public Service Commission

SALT LAKE CITY, UTAH (Feb. 1, 2023)  –  There’s a gap on the Utah Public Service Fee as a result of retirement of Commissioner Ron Allen. 

The Public Service Fee was established below the Public Utilities Act of 1917 to supply technical and financial regulation of the state’s public utility firms. These privately-owned however government-regulated firms present the electrical energy, pure fuel, telecommunication, water, and sewer methods by way of which utility companies are delivered to Utah households and companies. Since 1983, when the Legislature final reorganized Utah’s public utility regulatory operate, the PSC has been an unbiased entity with a small clerical, authorized, and technical advisory employees:

The fee shall be composed of three members appointed by the governor with the recommendation and consent of the Senate and in accordance with Title 63G, Chapter 24, Half 2. Because of the requirement that this should be a bi-partisan fee, this candidate can’t be a member of the Republican Occasion.
